GREG THE BUNNY and WARREN THE APE

Hey there! Got some good news, might as well start with the best:

OUR NEW MTV PILOT PRESENTATION HAS BEEN SHOT AND EDITED.

The current title is, "Warren the Ape." Yep, Warren finally got his own show. MTV is going to deliberate on whether or not to pick us up for series. Will post some production photos once I get my hands on em! Show went quite well - we were definitely working with a very thin budget, but we think we pulled off a fun little pilot. Warren gets his own reality show and attempts to pick up the pieces of his life, as Greg the Bunny attempts to cash in on Warren's success.

In other news...

SHORT CIRCUIT

Dan Milano (dat's me!) just signed on to write the remake of SHORT CIRCUIT for David Foster Productions (makers of the original) and Bob Weinstein of Dimension Films. Most of the press releases are saying it's going to be a "subversive" take, but most people don't know I've actually done several pilots for family shows and have been working on other family-centric products, so they all assume I'm gonna write fart and heroin jokes into everything I touch. Well folks, this is a family film and it always will be. I hope there's some sharp humor for adults, but make no mistake - it's intended to be a heartwarming movie for all audiences. I was very moved by the original as a kid, and Johnny Five (along with the muppets) very much inspired my interest in puppetry.

So though I'm aware that "hollywood is out of ideas," and that remakes are a dime a dozen these days, I'm doing my best to ensure that SHORT CIRCUIT is a faithful nod to the original but can also stand on its own. Personally, I love that Johnny Five might be back on the big screen and I'm doing my best to give him a great story to work with. I'm half way through my first draft and it's been a total pleasure.

It's great to work on things you've always loved and I never take one second in this crazy business for granted. To be working at all during a recession is a blessing, and to work on something that you really love is all the sweeter. After having worked on a Muppet script at Henson back in 2001, I'm honored to now get a chance to work on my other childhood obsession.

Excellent, Dan, but I was wondering if you had any idea when you would be ready to start on How To x 4 ever - Liked your pitch a LOT!
