Well, as of today, the 17th of February, we are nearly half-way through our production of Warren the Ape. We took Warren to "upfronts" in NYC last week, where he appeared in front of an audience of advertising people and media buyers during a presentation of MTV's new shows. We rubbed elbows with Snookie and the Jersey Shore gang, as well as MTV's new crotch-kicking pranksters, the "Dudesons." So that's the kind of company we're keeping lately.
The presentation was a big hit - MTV was very proud of the strong reaction our clipreel got from the audience, and a live appearance by Warren (flanked by show co-creators Chinoy and Baker) got huge laughs and applause. The network is now quite excited for the show and are really liking our early episode cuts.
We finally got Seth Green on set, to do a cameo in our episode "Amends," in which Warren attempts to apologize to those he hurt while under the influence of alcohol. Can't tell you the specifics of the episode, but let's just say things get bloody. It was so great to work with Seth again. He has such a great relationship with the puppets. We also worked with Matt Besser of Upright Citizens Brigade, who guest starred as a hyperactive director who wants to put Warren in a cop drama...
Overall, the footage is strong and we are tired but tickled as we embark on the second half of our long production run. Today we are shooting a scene with Clare Grant as Seth's girlfriend, and some pretty nasty puppet-on-puppet violence from an old exploitation film Warren did in the 70s.
Hence the "Death Wish" inspired photo, above. Thanks for the enthusiasm and support, we'll be sure to upload some more pics and info as things become available. Meantime please follow Warren's tweets and give the Ape some love over on Facebook!

PS
We just shot scenes from a fictional cop drama called "DENTED BADGE" starring Warren the Ape and Billy Crudup (WATCHMEN, PUBLIC ENEMIES). Was one of our best days yet!
